Pirate Day Regatta at Lake Summerside

Ahoy Mateys!
The Edmonton Dragon Boat Racing Club is currently busy planning a fun-filled day of dragon boat racing at Lake Summerside in Edmonton, Alberta on August 20, 2011!
Here's what to expect:
- Races will begin at 12:00pm and run until approximately 4:30pm including fun challenge races.
- Registration will begin at 10am. All team members and registered spectators must register and check-in with the EDBRC before entering the facility by 11:30am at the latest. There is a $20 registration fee for non-club members.
What to bring
Here's a list of what we'd suggest bringing to this event:
- Picnic items
- Portable chairs
- Sunscreen and bug spray
- Towels and swim wear (there's a beach!)
- Your best pirate costume...prizes to be awarded!
Prizes
Prizes for races and team spirit will be awarded! Individual prizes will also be awarded for the following categories:
- Best dressed pirate
- Most spectacular plank walk (bonus points for dance moves)
- Most likely to be an actual pirate (Jack Sparrow impersonations are encouraged)
Parking
Please do not park in the Summerside lot. Passengers and supplies can be dropped off near the gate but all non-residents must park on the street only. Handicap parking is available in the parking lot.
Food
Delicious treats (hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, etc) are brought to you by Red Hot Cafe! Information and their menu can be found here.
Directions
The directions to lake Summerside are as follows: Gateway Blvd. to Ellerslie Road. East on Ellerslie Road to 91st Street. South on 91st. A map of how to get to Lake Summerside can be found on the Summerside Website.
